£100k boost for domestic violence refuge
10 March, 2017
AN Islington-based refuge for Latin American survivors of domestic violence has been given a £100,000 funding boost by the government.
The cash, secured with the backing of the Town Hall, will help Latin American Women’s Aid support victims and their families. Its services include a peer-to-peer support scheme, rights and social security advice and counselling.
The refuge provides emergency accommodation to around 30 survivors of domestic violence and their children.
Islington is also to benefit from a successful cross-borough bid for nearly £400,000 government cash to train around 200 professionals working with women experiencing domestic violence.
