Daryl’s Dragons Under-9s filled the goal in more ways than one in their game against Drayton FC
PASQUEL Levy-Thomas made a dream debut on Saturday as she helped Camden Youth FC come from behind to net an opening day victory in the Capital Girls League.
Trailing 2-1 at half-time, Levy-Thomas transformed the game as she scored four goals to cap a player-of-the-match display against Alexandra Park North FC. Fellow debutant Sasha Mesquita was also on target as the Under-12s side wrapped up a thrilling 5-3 victory.
Among the other teams celebrating was Daryl’s Dragons FC. Keeping tabs on just who was scoring for them at Regent’s Park proved tricky, however, as the goal-crazy Under-9s side ran out 15-1 winners against Drayton FC to record the greatest ever win in the club’s 10-year history.
Hotshot Woody Venville was singled out for praise after scoring his first ever hat-trick for the Dragons.
Club founder Daryl Moore said, “This was our first fixture back in the Camden and Regent’s Park Youth League and clearly all the games we played over the summer paid off. We looked really sharp, opening the scoring within two minutes. There was also some great telepathic play between Woody, Dory Duff, Leopoldo Labiaga, Arun Burman and Alexander Bains. By half time we were already up by a whopping 10-0.”
Looking ahead to the rest of the season, Moore added: “I’m really excited about this squad. They are a great unit, a group of friends and they take their football seriously. I have to praise all the players for their concentration and willingness to develop both individually and as a team. They are a credit to their coach, Ben Leffman.”
