A few grilled sausages are not a threat

17 March, 2017

• PERHAPS Jenny Paddington (Why allow barbecues that leave the Fields in a mess? March 10) misunderstands the main point being made by Alastair Harper?

His valid concern is the disingenuous complaints made about “air pollution” in relation to very occasional small barbecues on sunny days in Highbury Fields, rather than the dangerous constant emissions from car use (especially diesel).

The subject of barbecues on the Fields raises much heated debate, but a few grilled sausages are not a threat to air quality in London. And, of course, everyone can agree on the need to be tidy and considerate, and clear away mess.
