A question of diversity

Frances Swaine, managing partner at Farringdon-based Leigh Day
• READING the front page story about Leigh Day one might be mistaken for thinking that the lead they have given is to have “just one man of African or Caribbean descent in its near 500-strong workforce”, (Law firm’s advert aims to recruit black men, August 28).
Has it has taken the emergence of Black Lives Matter to reveal that carrying on in the same, and probably comfortable, ways “is really unattractive…”?
By their own admission since 2001 they have only “managed to recruit a single person of African or Afro-Caribbean origin as a trainee solicitor”.
