ARSENAL players including Alexis Sanchez and Alex Scott spread Christmas joy through the Whittington Hospital.
The Premier League club’s stars handed out presents to sick children at the Highgate hospital, following a long-running tradition. Arsenal captain Per Mertesacker was joined by Nacho Monreal, Granit Zhaka, new signing Sead Kolasinac, Alex Scott from the Arsenal women’s team and the Gunnersaurus mascot.
Mum Eileen Fitzgerald posed with the players and 17-month-old daughter Kayden. Mr Mertesacker, who led the trip to the Whittington, said: “I’ve been at Arsenal for seven years now and this is my seventh visit to Whittington Hospital. It means a lot to us – for the men’s and women’s players – to all come together and give a little bit back, especially at this time of year.”
The visit came ahead of the Gunners’ Premier League match against Newcastle United on December 16 when manager Arsene Wenger and the first-team players will donate a day’s wages to charities and local projects.
