SHOCKING CCTV footage released by the RSPCA shows a group of boys attacking a cat in a Barnsbury street.

The animal protection charity is appealing for witnesses to the “sickening” attack, which happened in Cloudesley Road shortly before 9.15pm on Saturday.

“The CCTV footage clearly shows a group of seven young men picking up a cat and throwing it onto the pavement,” RSPCA animal welfare officer Siobhan Trinnaman said.

“You can then see them booting something off screen before running off when a security light comes on outside of the terrace townhouses.

“Inflicting such an unprovoked and violent attack on a defenceless cat is sickening and it’s important we track down the people responsible.”

The RSPCA would like to hear from the cat’s owner to make sure it is not badly injured.

“Any witnesses can get in touch by calling our inspector appeal line on 0300 123 8018,” Ms Trinnaman said.
