Archway church is hit by break-ins three days running

Police probe CCTV footage after computer equipment was taken from office at St Gabriel’s

12 June, 2018 — By Samantha Booth

POLICE are investigating three break-ins within days at an Archway church.

Computer equipment was taken from the church office in one of the burglaries at St Gabriel’s Church, in St John’s Villas.

The three burglaries happened on consecutive days from Bank Holiday Monday, May 7, to May 9. No arrests have been made, the Met confirmed, but “detailed inquiries” are in hand. CCTV footage has been retrieved for review.

A spokesman for the parish said: “We were very surprised that anyone would attempt to break in on three successive days.

“We are grateful that no one met with any harm during these break-ins.”

Junction ward councillor Janet Burgess said: “I’m really very sorry to hear about it and upset on their behalf.

“I hope whoever it is can be apprehended quickly and that it doesn’t happen again.”
