Archway church thefts are so sad

01 June, 2018

• HOW things have changed. Once criminals would never steal from churches or places of worship, but a few weeks ago this happened three nights in a row at St Gabriel’s RC Church in Archway, from the priests’ house and the church.

This has caused a great deal of distress to the priests. It is very sad as churches are always the ones to help the needy, poor and homeless, regardless of religion.

I hope those who stole from the church will assure the priests that this will not happen again. They are helpful to everyone, rich or poor. They see us all as equals.

It would be sad if churches had to be closed except for masses or funerals. Many people, like me, feel a sense of peace just to go in and light a candle during the week.
