Are Finsbury Park benches a danger?

11 May, 2018

• I WAS baffled by Emily Finch’s report about Finsbury Park and proposals to make it safer, (Killing sparks call for park to close at night, May 4).

In the past the park was always locked at night. Has this changed? There used to be notices at all entrances warning about the closing time. As for the recommendation to make the park safer by getting rid of benches, I read this in disbelief. What danger do the benches represent?

Do we know how and why the recent murder in the park happened? I doubt it. Would lights and the absence of benches have made any difference, or are these measures to prove that “suitable preventative action has been taken”?
