Are signs in the street just for job creation?

Sign advising HGVs not to go down Saint Helena’s Passage

• THERE are a ridiculous number of PFS “people-friendly streets” signs in Lloyd Square in Clerkenwell – I think about 54.

This sign (pictured above) is perhaps the funniest one. It advises HGVs not to go down Saint Helena’s Passage. Is it OK for a double-decker bus or a tank? A neighbour’s suggestion.

Of course, we could discuss the many notices forbidding dogs to poo in the street; as the owners don’t read the notices and the dogs can’t.

So what is the purpose? There’s plenty of poo about neatly wrapped in plastic. Sure, putting up the notices creates jobs but otherwise it seems a bit pointless
