THOUSANDS of pounds worth of Arsenal merchandise was stolen from the club’s Emirates Stadium superstore on Tuesday.

Builders were repairing the damaged Queensland Road store on Wednesday after the raid involving two mopeds and a car.

A police spokesman said that a “large quantity” of goods had been taken.

No arrests have yet been made.

An Arsenal spokesman said: “Our Highbury House store was targeted by ram-raiders overnight.

“No one was hurt but considerable damage was caused and some stock stolen.”

Scotland Yard released new figures in May which showed 489 “powered two-wheelers” – including motorbikes and mopeds – stolen in Islington in the previous 12 months had been used to commit 2,417 other offences, the majority of which were mobile phone snatches.
