A TEAM of young footballers from Islington emulated their heroines when they stepped out at St George’s Park – home of England football.
Representing Arsenal in the Community, the super squad tackled the Premier League Tournament, a nationwide competition organised as part of Girls Football Week Euro Celebrations, an initiative by The FA aimed at getting more girls playing football.
The girls did the Gunners proud as they won their group and marched into the semi-finals before narrowly losing.
As a reward for all their efforts they were invited to the Emirates Cup at the weekend where they received a warm round of applause from the Arsenal crowd.
Arsenal in the Community coach Jack Ferguson said: “Going to the home of the England teams to play clubs from across the country was a brilliant experience.”
