A BETTING shop is to be converted into a vape store as one of the country’s biggest bookmakers announced a series of branch closures. William Hill said on Thursday that it is to shut down 700 high street outlets across the country.
The closures have been linked to a new £2 cap on roulette machines, known as fixed odds betting terminals. The firm’s branch in Southampton Row, Bloomsbury, is now due to become a shop selling e-cigarettes, while one of two branches is in Eversholt Street already has a ‘to let’ board up outside. In total, William Hill has four shops between Camden Road station and Mornington Crescent tube.
The New Journal contacted William Hill for comment but did not receive a reply. The company said it had suffered a “significant fall” in gaming machine
