BREAKING NEWS: Peabody acquires Holloway Prison site

Works set to start by 2022 and will be completed by 2026

08 March, 2019 — By Emily Finch

THE housing association giant Peabody has acquired the former Holloway Prison site from the Ministry of Justice in Parkhurst Road, it was announced today.

Peabody will be working with housing developers London Square on the project which they say will deliver 60 per cent “genuinely” affordable homes. They say they will also build a Women’s Centre at the site which housing campaigners have called for alongside more than 1,000 homes.

Peabody have chosen architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris to come up with the designs.

The site was secured through a loan from the Mayor of London.

The first floor of the Visitors’ Centre will temporarily be handed over to homelessness charity so they can offer accommodation to 42 people at the space.
