Cakes say thanks to NHS workers

30 June, 2017 — By Tom Foot

ANTI-privatisation campaigners are preparing a special birthday party for the NHS next week.

Islington Keep Our NHS Public will by taking cakes from bakers and cafés to staff at clinics and GP surgeries on Wednesday.

They are hoping for cake donations from generous businesses to celebrate the 69th anniversary of the NHS.

KONP chairwoman Tricia Barnett said: “It’s a small but important way to say thank-you for all their hard work and dedication, and the amount of unpaid work which they do to keep our under-funded NHS from collapsing.

“We wanted to do something positive to express the love and appreciation of what the NHS does for us all.

“What better way to celebrate than by eating cake.”
