Calais convoy brings much-needed hope to refugees
01 December, 2017
• ISLINGTON mum Nike Johnson will be joining other residents and workers on Saturday, December 9, in a convoy of cars, vans and coaches delivering local collected donations of desperately needed money and clothing to refugees stranded outside in the cold over the Channel in Calais.
The convoy, organised by Stand Up to Racism and Care4Calais, aims to focus attention on the plight of refugees escaping war in their countries of origin and the government’s callous indifference to it.
Tomorrow (Saturday) supporters of Islington Stand Up to Racism will be collecting donations outside Angel tube station from 2-4 pm. Anyone wishing to donate clothing or money to the Calais Winter Appeal or to join the December 9 convoy should email firstname.lastname@example.org
