Car crashes into the side of Islington pub

22 May, 2020 — By Calum Fraser

A CAR has crashed into the side of a pub in Angel this morning.

The exterior of the Duke of Cambridge pub in St Peter’s Street was damaged as a Mini “reversed into the walls”, an eyewitness told the Tribune.

Police officers and paramedics attended the scene where the driver of the vehicle  was assessed but not taken to hospital.

Cemal Tasyurdu, who runs the St Peter’s Dry Cleaners next door to the Duke of Cambridge, said: “I just heard a loud noise. I thought maybe the roof had fallen down. I think the man just put his car in the wrong gear, reversed, and came up on to the pavement and back into the pub knocking off the wall.”

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 10.39am today (22 May) to reports of a road traffic collision in St Peter’s Street, Islington.

“We sent an ambulance crew and an emergency responder in a car, who attended the incident alongside other emergency services.

“We checked over a man at the scene, but did not take him to hospital.”
