Church buildings talk

10 March, 2017

A TALK about the religious body behind an unusual cluster of buildings in Holloway will be held at Islington town hall on Wednesday.

The buildings at the junction of Camden Road and Parkhurst Road include a church – home to Islington Arts Factory – and a verger’s cottage, grade II-listed last year.

They were built for the Swedenborg Church. The religious movement was informed by the writings of Swedish scientist and theologian Emanuel Swedenborg (1688–1772), who died at Cold Bath Fields, Clerkenwell.

Richard Lines, author of A History of the Swedenborg Society, will talk about the Swedenborg Society at the 7.30pm event organised by Islington Archaeology and History Society.
