Closure decision lacked transparency
14 February, 2020
• GLENDA Weil is spot-on about Islington Council’s lack of transparency over the decision to keep closed the top of Highbury Crescent, (We are hardly seeing a consultation over this road closure, February 7).
The order regarding the closure was sneaked out on a Friday evening in November and the council ignores emails querying it.
Once again, the council is trying to run roughshod over local opinion; a bit like when it refused to budge over the “improvements” to Highbury Corner, the negative consequences of which are still being felt, as highlighted in the letter from residents of Liverpool Road that you also published, (We are fearful about the traffic now in Liverpool Road, February 7).
I’m sick to death with people – members of the council and others – who don’t live in roads immediately adjacent to the Fields, telling us how we should go about our lives.
