THREE cyclists reported being robbed at knifepoint while cycling through Finsbury Park, which borders Islington and Haringey, on Monday.

Police were called just before 8pm to reports of a number of people being robbed in the park and spoke to three male victims.

They told officers that they had been approached by a group of young men and had phones and bank cards stolen.

Two 14-year-old boys arrested on suspicion of robbery were taken to a north London police station.

They have been released under investigation pending further inquiries.

Campaign group Friends of Finsbury Park has repeatedly called for improved safety in the 100-acre park, where a popular Camden barmaid was murdered on Christmas Eve 2017.

Her friends and the Met Police called for the park to have better lighting and to be locked up at night.

Anyone with information about this week’s robberies is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD6802/11MAR or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
