‘Disused loos would make a great underground bar’

THE firm that converts public toilets into bars has its eyes on the loos outside Archway Tavern.

William Borrell, who heads Rocksteady Bars, said there is demand for an underground bar at the disused toilets in Navigator Square.

The company is behind Ladies and Gentlemen sited in old toilets in Kentish Town in 2014, which has become a popular nightspot.

However, Dr Imtiaz Sardar, the tenant of the toilets as well as Archway Tavern, said they had their “own plans” which would be submitted to the council soon.

Mr Borrell, who has recently moved to Archway from Kentish Town, said: “Almost every day I have to walk past the beautiful gyratory which has been converted into a beautiful square.

“Ninety per cent of our customers are mums and dads that just want to get out.

“They do not want to go down to Soho for a nice drink. We’ve got an exemplary record and the will of the people in the area seems that they want something to happen there.”

The New Journal reported earlier this year how the company was also planning to move into a new site near Camden Road station in Camden Town.
