Unstoppable: Wednesday hitman Martyn Davies hit four yet again
UNSTOPPABLE striker Martyn Davies completed a magnificent hat-trick at the weekend when he scored four goals for the third game in a row in Division Two of the Camden Sunday League.
Remarkably, the sharp-shooter has now scored a total of 12 goals in the opening three games of the season for Hackney Wednesday, who in turn have racked up 30 goals already in this campaign.
The league leaders’ latest landslide came at the expense of St Peters. Fergus McIntosh bagged a brace, while Daniel Hodkinson, Calum McIntosh and Rob Lupton were also all on target as Wednesday wrapped up a resounding 9-0 victory.
London Badgers have returned to top spot in Division One after chalking up an impressive victory over Clerkenwell Old Boys.
Midfielders Conor Lanphere and Samir Hadi grabbed the goals as Badgers ran out 2-0 victors at Hackney Marshes to make it two wins out of two.
On target: Nicola Loche scored to help down the champions
They’re one of four teams now on six points – along with champions Crouch End Rangers, Badu Sports FC and Clerkenwell.
But, crucially, they have played a game less than their title rivals and are the only unbeaten team left in the top flight.
Rangers, meanwhile, saw their unbeaten start to the season come to an abrupt end when they lost by the odd goal in five against Badu.
In a topsy-turvy match goals from Kevin Badu, Alfred Mugabo and Nicola Loche saw Badu earn a 3-2 victory. Jon Taylor and Declan Taylor both found the back of the net for Rangers.
Meanwhile players from both The Hurricanes and Cobden Athletic were celebrating this weekend after notching up first wins of the new season.
Midfielder Matt Perry scored twice as The Hurricanes won 2-0 against Auld Shillelagh.
Goals from Aaron Pedro and Kaleb King saw Cobden run out 2-1 winners against Philippine FC.
Striker Mark Millier Manangan scored for Philippine FC.
