Fighting loneliness four paws at a time
23 February, 2018
• AS recent news stories have shown, loneliness is a big problem in our society – especially for older people.
That’s why we launched Pets Against Loneliness (PAL). We’re a group of volunteers bringing together older members of the community who may feel isolated with friendly, well-behaved dogs and their owners for a morning of tea, cake and joy.
On Saturday, March 3, we will be holding our inaugural drop-in morning tea session at New Unity Unitarian Church in Newington Green. We would like to invite readers to come along, meet new people and enjoy some quality time with lovable dogs and their owners.
We also invite younger readers to bring along any older parents, grandparents and friends who would benefit from the event.
Owners of well-behaved pooches, too, are more than welcome to come along with their pets to help us alleviate loneliness four paws at a time. If you would like more details, contact Lyn Ambrose at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0788 667 4190.
