Flats and offices bid backed

29 September, 2017

TOWN Hall planners are expected to approve construction of a five-storey development in Finsbury on Monday.

The original plans to demolish the existing building at 44 Pear Tree Street and replace it with a mixed-use development with offices and eight flats sparked almost 60 objections from neighbours.

They were concerned about the design and loss of sunlight and privacy.

The earlier application was rejected by planners because it encroached too far into neighbouring buildings. The planning committee is expected to grant planning permission for the amended design.

Developer North Square Properties must meet certain conditions, including a £480,000 contribution towards affordable housing and £8,000 for carbon off-setting.
