Former prison officer smuggled drugs inside her bra
28 April, 2017
A FORMER prison officer has escaped jail despite being caught smuggling drugs and phones into the young offenders’ institution where she was working. She admitted she did it to make herself extra cash.
Safak Bozkurt, 28, of Skinner Street, Clerkenwell, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, and ordered to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work, at Southwark Crown Court on Monday.
She was found to have concealed cannabis inside her bra and four mobile phones in her waistband at the Thamesmead institution in July last year. Bozkurt told police she had been paid £500 to £1,000 each time by a former inmate.
