Gala opening of Little Fir Tree musical at Kings Place

13 December, 2018 — By Sebastian Taylor

THE world premiere of new musical Little Fir Tree is being given at Kings Place next Tuesday afternoon and evening (December 18).
It’s being billed as a “magical uplifting musical for the whole family suitable for all ages”.

Based on the lovely Hans Christian Andersen story, it’s been re-imagined and composed by Megg Nicol and David Stoll.

Little Fir Tree lives in a clearing in the Great Forest where he has wonderful animal friends, Owl, Benny Badger, the Squirrel Twins and Mouse who support him – especially when the big trees pick on him for being so small.

Occasionally, the human world and the forest collide as when Lara and other schoolchildren arrive for a winter picnic and fall in love with Little Fir Tree.

But sometimes the outside world can bring danger in the guise of Poacher Pete who hunts animals and chops down trees.
There’s a full cast and orchestra plus celebrity storyteller Sylvester McCoy.

Little Fir Tree, Kings Place, 90 York Way, N1, 4.30pm & 7.30pm, £18.50/children £12.50, 020 7520 1490, www.kingsplace.co.uk
