THE Green Man are looking odds-on to make a swift return to the top flight of the Chalk Farm Pool League after their perfect start to the new season continued on Monday night.

The Islington-based side seem to have shaken off the disappointment of being relegated last term and now look focused on gaining promotion.

In their latest outing they beat title rivals Golden Lion 6-3 to make it three wins from three in Division Two.

If Cieron Farrelly’s side keeps successfully potting their way back to Division One they will find themselves among the giants of the league, including high-flyers King’s Cross Hurricanes.

Packed with England internationals and county players, the Hurricanes stormed to an 8-1 victory over Peckwater Playboys in their latest outing on Monday – a result that saw them leapfrog defending champions Sir Robert Peel, who were beaten 5-4 by league leaders Boston Arms.

After the resounding win, Hurricanes captain Alp Sezer was full of praise for his newest recruit. “I’m very happy with the way we’ve started the new season,” he said. “We’ve been in tremendous form.

“It’s also great to have East London county player Shaz Khan on board, he has been superb for us so far.”

Meanwhile in Division Three, early pacesetters King’s Cross Gunners chalked up what could prove a big result over potential title rivals Oakey Coakeys come the end of the season, pocketing a 7-2 victory.
