A MOTHER has pledged to shave off her hair to raise money for a gravestone commemorating a friend’s son, who died this year after being shot.
Heather Annan watched her own son Joshua grow up with Imani Allaway-Muir and said she was devastated when he was killed on the Westbourne estate, Holloway, in July.
“This murder has absolutely destroyed the family,” she told the Tribune.
“Every day Keetha [Imani’s mother] is up at the cemetery come rain or sunshine.

“The other day she mentioned how much a gravestone is going to cost and she is very stressed about it.”
Ms Annan added: “I’m a mixed race woman and black hair takes a long time to grow and I have been growing mine for some years now. I am willing to make this sacrifice for Keetha if it will help her.”
Ms Annan also intends to donate her hair to the Locks of Love charity which provides wigs to disadvantaged children who suffer hair loss as a result of medical conditions like cancer treatment.
So far she has raised just over £900 towards a fundraising target of £1,500. The haircut will take place on New Year’s Day and she said she will upload a video online after.
Six men have been charged with Mr Allaway-Muir’s killing.
