‘Hero’ Arsenal star fends off knife-weilding attackers

POLICE officers from a specialist crime force focussed on moped crime have been parachuted in to take over an investigation after two Arsenal stars were attacked last night.
Sead Kolasinac fended off two knife-wielding moped attackers after they tried to ambush the left-back and his teammate Mesut Ozil.
Masked men on a moped approached the car in Platts Lane, Camden. CCTV of the incident shows Mr Kolasinac, 26, fighting off the muggers in front of Mr Ozil’s black SUV.
A woman, allegedly Mr Ozil’s wife Amine Gulse, was also in the car.
The trio then fled in the car to a nearby Turkish restaurant while being chased by the attackers.
Staff at the restaurant raced out to meet the Gunners players and called the police.
CCTV of the incident has been shared thousands of times on social media with fans calling Mr Kolasinac a “hero.”
A spokeswoman for Arsenal said: “We have been in contact with both players and they are fine.”
No arrests have been made.
Detectives from as Operation Venice, a specialist unit set up to tackle moped crime, are investigating.
Chief Inspector Jim Corbett, of Operation Venice, said: “Whilst Detectives are actively pursuing lines of enquiry, I would ask any member of the public who has any information or video footage to contact police.”
