Opera lovers need to be up with the lark next Monday when 2,100 cheap tickets are being sold at only £18 each for operas being performed in this spring’s Opera Holland Park season.

Early rising is needed to stand a chance of getting a place in the OHP’s online waiting room before the online booking office opens at 10am. The booking office site is:

There’ll also be a link on the OHP homepage – – directing users to the booking site.

The online waiting room opens when more than 100 people are on the site. Previously, that has been at around 9am, about an hour before the booking site opens. But the doors are likely to open a lot earlier this year as more and more opera lovers are getting the hang of how to book tickets online. For instance, OHP has been “completely inundated” by older people for online sales of 1,000 free tickets to all OHP public performances, and this offer is now on the verge of closing.

Indeed, the official OHP advice about the 18,000 cheap tickets being sold next Monday is: “These tickets are extremely popular and we advise that you are on our booking site before 10am where you will be put in our online waiting room.”

Last year, all the cheap tickets had all gone by teatime.

The OHP season opens with Puccini’s La rondine on June 1 followed over nine weeks by Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Janáček’s Kát’a Kabanová and Leoncavallo’s Zazà.

General booking online and by phone opened two months ago and booking “in person” opens at the beginning of next month. Word from OHP is that Don Giovanni and Zazà have been the fastest sellers to date under “general booking” sales, with Zazà “marginally in the lead”.

Good luck!
