VOLUNTEERS at the Muslim Welfare Centre in Finsbury Park are handing out free hot meals to those in need.

Their doors are open from Monday to Friday and they are serving meals from 2pm to help out during the coronavirus pandemic.

Zakaria Gherabi from the centre said they were serving 700 meals a day, adding: “We are doing it to help the community and give support to whoever needs it.”

During the first lockdown Mr Gherabi said the project was feeding 2,000 people a day.

He said: “We want to get the word out and let people know everyone is welcome and we are here to help.”

The food service is organised by the Felix Project and chefs from volunteer project Compassion London.
