• SELF-CHECKOUTS are so wrong on so many levels: impersonal, cynical cost-cutting, job cutting, pure corporate greed. I absolutely refuse to use them on principle, (Checkouts! They should pay me, August 29).
I would rather queue up for an extra 10 minutes to be served by a human being and have that human contact. Not to mention irritation at being “thanked” by a patronising, bloody machine.
I generally find that when I explain my reasoning to shop staff, they privately agree with me.
