In search of information about GMC Dowman

08 January, 2021

• THE James Hilton Society are trying to trace any family or friends of the late GMC Dowman, who lived at 88 Islington High Street, N1 8EG in March 1972.

He was a friend of James Hilton – author of Goodbye, Mr Chips and Lost Horizon – and, it’s a long shot, he might have passed on papers and photographs relating to his friendship.

It is also possible that among these papers was a typewritten copy of a tribute written by Hilton on the death of King George VI and delivered at the English Church in Hollywood in 1952.
