Islington comes out for One Great Day

24 June, 2017

The people of Islington came out in force to support One Great Day at Angel Central last Saturday.

Angel Central enjoyed a great day of fundraising for One Great last Saturday, with the Islington community coming out in force to support Great Ormond Street Hospital.

With plenty of activities on offer, Angel Central’s piazza was full of children and parents alike enjoying the carnival atmosphere.

The crazy golf proved the most popular activity on offer with a constant buzz of people around the clubhouse, and a few hole-in-ones being celebrated by the crowd that had gathered on the Angel Central lawn.

Roller bowler and ring toss sat next to the golf course and proved just as popular but towards the end of the day it was the high striker that took everyones attention, but only a few managed to hit the top score!

Among those making donations were former patients, parents and employees of Great Ormond Street, including a nurse who discussed her role at the hospital with one of Angel Central’s volunteers.

The most inspiring donation came from a young girl who donated all of her pocket money, telling a volunteer afterward that one of her friends had spent time at the hospital and wanted to show her support.

It proved to be a successful day for the Angel Central team as they more than doubled last years total.

Angel Central’s management team, security team and marketing team were all on hand to support the event and raise money by handing out balloons, stickers and sweets to all those who donated.

Lynne Glover, the centre manager said ‘I want to thank everyone who donated on Saturday.

It was a great day for everyone involved and most importantly we were supporting a hospital that is just down the road from us.
We were so proud of the Islington community who came out to show their support.

I would also like to thank Will, Peter and Johnny who helped us raise money with the crazy golf and the other activities on the lawn.’
