Join a spring bike ride and see what your new councillors should be committing to deliver

06 April, 2018

• PROSPECTIVE councillors should be knocking on doors over the coming weeks, anxious to talk to voters about their voting intentions.

We need to ask them what they intend to do, if elected, to address the high levels of air pollution, obesity and inactivity in the borough.

As a starter, we could discuss their views on how they intend to work towards better provision for walking and cycling for everyone – activities which have positive impacts on health.

The changes to Highbury Corner will be, once completed, a good start but much more needs to be done; for example, providing a fit-for-purpose Quietway 10, identifying and putting in a bid for funding for an Islington Liveable Neighbourhood and building segregated cycling infrastructure.

To see examples of these, cycleislington.uk has organised a spring bike ride at 2pm on Sunday from Freightliners Farm. All are most welcome. Come with all your family and friends and see for yourselves what your new councillors should be committing to deliver.
