POLICE are still hunting a man after a woman was raped at knifepoint in Canonbury last year.
A 25-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of rape was this week released from bail with no further action. Detectives are continuing to appeal for information.
The victim, a woman in her late 50s, was walking in Wontner Close when a man approached her and asked her for some change. She gave him what she had but the men then grabbed her by the shoulder and pushed her into Hedingham Close. He pulled out a knife before raping her.
After the attack, at around midnight on Thursday, September 1, the suspect emptied the victim’s bag on the floor, taking her valuables before heading towards Popham Road.
He is described as a dark-skinned black man, between 5ft 4in to 5ft 6ins, of medium build and wearing dark clothing. He is believed to be aged between 30 and 40 years.
