Make it a season that everyone loves

17 November, 2017

THERE’S no escaping from it: the shops are already decked with tinsel, every advert on TV is urging us to stock up on treats and they’ve even started playing one or two Christmas songs on the radio.

And yet, sad as it is, there are some people who do just want to do that: escape from it all. Rather than being a season to look forward to, for many in our borough it’s a time when it’s brought home to them that they have nobody to celebrate with.

We are thinking of the elderly living alone, feeling isolated while the party goes on without them.

Other neighbours, meanwhile, feel weighed down by the cost. It’s hard to meet all those expectations of Christmas when you are living on the breadline or have faced one hardship after another.

At the Tribune, we believe nobody should be forgotten at this special time of year – and this is why we ask for your help by supporting our annual hamper appeal.

With your backing, we pay for as many hampers as possible to be sent to deserving people. You can assist by suggesting who should receive one in the days before Christmas, but also by donating.

Every contribution, from 1p upwards, is a step towards making this the best Christmas ever. We will make sure everybody who helps gets a thank-you and coverage in the paper. It will mean so much to so many.

PayPal donations can be made via the Christmas Hamper button, below:

Or cheques (made payable to ‘Islington Tribune Hamper Fund’) to Islington Tribune Hamper Fund, 40 Camden Road NW1 9DR
