Night bus axed to save cash

• TRANSPORT for London proposes to withdraw the N271 night bus between Finsbury Square and Highgate to save a paltry £190,000 a year. (Night bus blow for hospital workers, November 16).

It cynically says there are other services people can use, mentioning the night tube. But the night tube on the Northern line does not serve the City branch, only the West End branch. Also, it only runs on Friday and Saturday nights.

So far as I know there will be a gap of some four to five hours between the last day bus and the first day bus. Not good enough, TfL.

A vast area of north London will be without a night bus service. Apparently, cost-cutting comes before personal safety, especially that of staff at Whittington Hospital who are unable to drive or cannot find somewhere to park.
