No shortage of hot air as baby Trump comes out to play

29 June, 2018 — By Samantha Booth

IT’S a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a giant balloon of baby Donald Trump in an Islington playground.

The six-metre inflatable towered near homes in Holloway for several hours on Tuesday. It was a practice run before its expected grandstand outside the Houses of Parliament next month when the President visits London on July 13.

Islington Play Association had granted permission for the “Trump Baby Crew” to pump up the angry-looking balloon, paid for by a crowdfunding campaign, at its currently unused Martin Luther King Adventure Playground on Sheringham Road.

Leo Murray, one of the organisers, said: “We just needed somewhere that was private and a large outdoor space as it’s too big for people’s gardens.

“We had to get power from a neighbour and one guy had seen about it and said ‘I can’t believe you guys are here!’ and ran out an extension cable for us.”

Thousands are expected to join a mass protest against Mr Trump’s visit to the UK.
