‘Noisy’ roundabout bar gets new licence

01 December, 2017

AN application to extend the licence of a venue near Old Street Station has been approved, despite neighbours’ complaints.

The licence for The Magic Roundabout venue, run by the House of Burger Bear, has been extended for a year. It will serve alcohol until 11pm Monday to Saturday, and 10pm on Sundays.

The venue, which has a coffee shop, pastry hut, food stalls and bar, has been running since it opened on a temporary licence in 2015. It is accessible via a staircase in the station and often hosts DJs and other events.

Prior to the new licence being granted there were reports of noise complaints from residents in nearby flats that overlook Old Street Roundabout.

As an outcome of the application approval, the House of Burger Bear are to have the sound system of the venue inspected by an approved Islington Council acoustician within six months after the new certificate is released.
