Paedophile jailed for having sex with woman in front of her children before assaulting them

The abuse took place for nearly five years in Islington

12 September, 2019 — By Calum Fraser

A paedophile who encouraged his partner’s Islington children to watch them having sex and also sexually abused them has been jailed for six-and-a-half years.

The 61-year-old, who has not been named to protect the identity of the children, would visit a mother-of-two in Kings Cross and have sex with her in front of the children, before eventually assaulting them.

The abuse took place for nearly five years in Islington.

The was jailed at Blackfriars Crown Court on Wednesday and had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, two counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, and one count of sexual assault of a child under 13.

Both children, a boy and a girl, have now been taken into care.

The mother of the child previously pleaded guilty to two counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and one count of sexual assault on one child under 13 on two occasions between December 2014 and March 2019. She will be sentenced in November.

She told the police the sexual activity began on holiday in Spain when the family shared a room. She and her partner, from Sheffield, then started behaving intimately in front of the children and this moved on to involve the children. The sexual abuse escalated with the children made to participate more often.

Tetteh Turkson, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said: “The normal boundaries that keep children safe and separate from adult sexual activity were broken by these adults.

“This man was the driving force behind the involvement of the children in the sexual activity taking place. These incidents occurred because this man derived sexual gratification from involving the children in adult sexual activity.”

The prosecution case included video interviews from the two young victims.

During the sentence hearing Judge HHJ Mathieson said: “This was grooming behaviour of the most insidious and calculating type over months and years.”
