An investigation is underway following a fatal collision in Finsbury Park.

Passers-by rushed to the aid of a pedestrian who was in a collision with a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) in Seven Sisters Road today.

Police and the London Ambulance Service were called at around 1.20pm.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Blackstock road butcher Hakim Amokrane rushed to the man’s aid.

“I held his hand and told him not to worry, the ambulance is coming,” Mr Amokrane said. “It’s shocking. I have had to stay here to know it’s real. I cannot believe what I have seen.”

He believed the man was in his 50s with greying hair.

The incident happened at the same spot where a man collided with a car yesterday morning.

Road closures remain in place on Seven Sisters Road.

The lorry stopped at the scene.

Police say there have been no arrests and enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact police on 101 and quote CAD 3634/24Sept.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson: “We were called at 1:23pm today to Seven Sisters Road to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian.

“We dispatched a number of resources to the scene including an advanced paramedic, incident response officer and our hazardous area response team (HART).

“Sadly, despite the efforts of medics, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
