Plans sought in a roundabout way for Old Street

THE Town Hall is seeking designs after it was announced that work to transform Old Street roundabout to pedestrianise parts of it will start late next year.
The project, backed by Transport for London and Islington and Hackney Councils, will include designated cycle lanes.
Design ideas must reflect the fact its “Silicon Roundabout” reputation of tech business.
Cllr Claudia Webbe, Islington Council’s executive member for environment and transport, said:
‘The transformation of Old Street will hugely improve the area for pedestrians, public transport users, cyclists and people who live and work nearby. Old Street is an iconic location known around the world, and a powerful symbol of what is also known as Tech City.
“This is a unique opportunity for an exciting, bold, iconic gateway – we are looking for innovative and inspiring ideas, which tap into the pioneering spirit of creativity for which Old Street is so famous.’
