A MOPED rider slashed a police officer’s tyres and threatened him with a large knife after his vehicle was followed by police.
An officer on a marked police motorbike saw two men on a moped acting suspiciously in Benwell Road on Wednesday at around 2.30pm and signalled for them to stop.
The moped made off and continued until Sunnyside Road – nearly two miles away along Hornsey Road.
After stopping, the passenger threatened the officer with a large knife and slashed the officer’s motorbike tyres.
The officer was uninjured and the two men made off on their moped with no arrests made.
Detective Inspector Greg Coates, of Camden and Islington’s Operation Attrition Unit, said: “These men are clearly dangerous and need to be arrested. We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information. In particular we would like to hear from anyone who was in this area at the time and has Dashcam footage. If you were in the vicinity of either in Benwell Road, Hornsey Road or Sunnyside Road on Wednesday afternoon, please call police; your information could be vital.”
Anyone with information can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
