YOUNGSTERS celebrated their last moments of freedom before a new school term with a talent show at an adventure playground on Friday.

There was kung-fu fighting, shimmying and renditions of tunes from the musical Annie at Finsbury’s Toffee Park Adventure Playground as parents proudly watched on. More than 15 children crowded onto the stage for a synchronised dance to Pharrell William’s Happy, while a machine pumped out bubbles.

The show at the Islington Play Association- managed park also marked the last day for beloved park supervisor Jordan James, 27, who is returning to Wales to work as a child policy adviser.

“We’ve been looking after 80 children a day over the holiday. I’ve had a wonderful time, a wonderful summer,” said Ms James. Ms James had worked at the centre for 18 months but started volunteering at adventure playgrounds in Swansea as a teenager. “Play is so important for children’s mental health. It’s all about having free spaces to play,” she added.
