Prisoners saved by a cigarette

21 April, 2017

• IF letting a depressed prisoner go to mass or have a cigarette could save their life then so be it (Prisoner hanged himself after being denied church visit, March 24).

They should be allowed those things otherwise we might as well have capital punishment because they are being allowed to die at their own hands.

Suicide in prison should not be classed as collateral damage, as if these prisoners are of no importance. It could be any one of us. There but for the grace of God go I.
