Proceeds from the sale of The Hoo will be reinvested in mental health care
06 December, 2018
• I WRITE in response to the letter, (Loss of mental health funding is the core reason for the sale of The Hoo, November 29). It is both heartening and a tribute to our staff that thousands of service users have found The Hoo to be a sanctuary over the years.
The decision to sell the building has not been taken lightly, but I believe it is the right one, with all proceeds from the sale being reinvested back into mental health care in our community.
The new location at Daleham Gardens is just 0.4 miles or an eight-minute walk from The Hoo. It has been refurbished to a high standard with the involvement of service users and, unlike The Hoo, will be easily accessible to individuals with a disability.
I would like to reassure both Ms Henderson and all our service users that the full range of services we currently provide at The Hoo will not be cut in any way and will continue to be of the highest standard.
