A SCHOOL held a baking contest as a way of thanking staff for carrying on during the coronavirus lockdown.
The Great Burghley Bake Off at Acland Burghley School in Tufnell Park was the climax of a 15-week campaign to keep teachers supplied with goodies.
It all started when a mystery donor dropped off some cakes at the start of the crisis, and then parents started to join in by making their own.
The final efforts were cooked up to mark the end of the academic year.
Teacher Hiri Arunagiri said: “We have been really moved. They’ve kept us going. We cannot believe we have been so lucky to get something delicious every day.”
