THE full potential of new musical instrument, the hang, is being demonstrated at a Hang Massive concert at Union Chapel, Islington, this Saturday evening (September 7). The hang was invented in 2001 in Switzerland. It consists of two half-shells of deep drawn nitrided steel glued together at the rim, leaving the inside hollow and creating a distinct “UFO-like shape”. Playing the hang creates a steel-pan sound – “a unique sonic experience”.
