Secret, horrific cuts must be stopped
30 June, 2017
• WHILE the Tories can afford £1.5bn as a bung to the DUP, they are demanding extra cuts by stealth (the so-called Sustainability Transformation Plan) to our NHS in North Central London (Islington, Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Camden).
They claim there is £183m funding gap. Their secret plans, which include UCH and the Royal Free, as well as the Whittington, involve rationing treatments, increasing waiting times, staff redundancies and closing/rationalising departments.
The Royal College of Surgeons has already said these secret cuts will have a “devastating impact” on patients.
As those patients, we demand none of these proposed secret, horrific cuts be implemented without immediate public consultation of the intended victims – those who live and work in Islington and the other four boroughs under threat.
